Who cares if one more light goes out in a sky of a million stars?

 

Six children would care; the exes would care, his current wife and Millions of fans around the world.

Linkin park lead singer Chester Bennington who reportedly committed suicide was a devout dad, a loving father/Husband and great friend to his ex-wife/ girlfriend.

He was lead-singer of one of the most successful rock bands in the world.  Millions of fans adored him. Yet he hung a rope around his neck and killed himself on Friday

Why?

News reports have suggested a trail of activities that culminated in suicide…

 

He got molested at 7years old:

He confirmed this in an interview. His abuser was a friend a few years older than him.

According to him, “It escalated from a touchy, curious, ‘what does this thing do’ into full-on, crazy violations. “I was getting beaten up and being forced to do things I didn’t want to do. It destroyed my self-confidence.”

The star suffered in silence for a staggering six years – for fear of what would happen if he said anything. “I didn’t want people to think I was gay or that I was lying,” he confessed. “It was a horrible experience.”

To this day Chester has never identified his abuser.

 

Then his parents got divorced;

To make matters worse he felt abandoned by his family. His father Lee – a police detective who, coincidentally, focused on child abuse cases – worked long hours.

His parents divorced when he was 11; in addition to the molestation he was shattered.

At that young age someone gave him an escape route (drugs) and he took it immediately. The trauma of his abuse plunged Bennington into a cycle of addiction.

His mother kicked him out of her house when he was 17 due to his drug use.

 

A life of substance abuse

Speaking to Metal Hammer, Chester said: ‘I was on 11 hits of acid a day. I dropped so much acid I’m surprised I can still speak! I’d smoke a bunch of crack, do a bit of meth and just sit there and freak out.

‘Then I’d smoke opium to come down. I weighed 110 pounds. My mom said I looked like I stepped out of Auschwitz. So I used pot to get off drugs. Every time I’d get a craving, I’d smoke my pot.’

In 2006, I had a choice between stopping drinking and dying. I did some counselling with the guys and they really opened up and told me how they felt. I had no idea that I had been such a nightmare.’

Chester battled his depression and drug consumption. He did therapy and tried to love life.

 

A good friend passes on

Chris Cornell was a really good friend of Chester. They have been singing and touring on stage since 2000, even before Linkin Park became famous.

They were so close that Chester was Godfather to Chris daughter.

Then Chris Cornell committed suicide two months ago in May. Hanging from a door in his home.

Again, Chester was broken.

Bennington last interview should have raised alarm bells

He said “I came to a point in my life where I was like, ‘I can either just give up and f*****g die or I can f*****g fight for what I want.’ And I chose to fight for what I wanted. I wanted to have good relationships. I wanted to love the people in my life. I wanted to enjoy my job. I wanted to enjoy being a dad and having friends and just getting up in the morning. Because that was a struggle for me.”

 

 

He killed himself two months later on his friend’s birthday, hanging on the door just like his friend did.

This incident took place on his private property, Palos Verdes Estates residence in Los Angeles County. All of his family was out when the event took place;

He was 41 years old.
