Champions League group stage recap- players & clubs that broke new records

Cristiano Ronaldo finishes with 1 goal in the group stage of Champions league,  A new low for the Juve star who has previously finished as one of the top scorers in the league

Phillip Jones is the first ManUtd player to score an own goal in a Champions League match since 2011. This  saw the Red Devils go down 2-1 to Valencia in their final Champions’ League group stage match.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has led his side to first place in the Champions’ League group stages for the ninth time in his 10 seasons as a manager. Man-city secured the top spot on Group F with victory over Hoffenheim  #ThePepeffect.

Kylian Mbappe has been directly involved in 7 goals in his past 6 Champions League appearances for PSG  in the 2018/19 season netting three goals and four assists

Players with most goals –

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski leads the ranking with eight strikes in his six group stage appearances. He is closely followed by Messi who has netted six goals in the 2018/19 UCL campaign so far.

PSG is probably one of the strongest contenders for the Trophy netting 17 goals in the group stage, followed closely by Man-city with 16 goals

Real Madrid had the first home loss in Champions League  group stages since 2009. CSKA Moscow beat real Madrid home & away – first in Moscow with a 1-0 win then they stunned them again at home in Bernabeu with a  3-0 defeat
