A stand for diversity

The world is struggling with racial tensions, islamophobia, and anti-gay rights.

As a result it’s becoming a thing for multinational companies to stand for pro diversity on gender, race, sexual preference, disability and other issues of inclusion.

They achieve this with controversial ads or the Ambassadors they choose.

Dove achieved this with real body campaign promoting different body types

Nike launched a Pro Hijabi headscarf see story here.

An openly gay man, Manny Gutierrez who is also a beauty blogger  is Maybelline  Ambassador. (see story)

Well, Apple thought it should  join the Diversity movement

Two days ago 17th july, Apple celebrated world Emoji day by releasing diversity Emoticons.

These new emoji are coming to iOS, macOS and watchOS later this year.

The new emoji include Woman with Headscarf, Bearded Person and Breastfeeding mother.

The Response for the hijabi Emoji was swift and hilarious.

Of course islamophobia kicked in. some referred to the Hijabs as a “symbol of oppression” and hence must not be promoted.
