Nigerians giving birth in the US for a Blue passport- Trump plans to put a stop to it

US Anchor Babies

Extremely popular in Naija, thousands of well to do and average Nigerians travel abroad to give birth for the blue passport. When the child is 21 years old, he or she can file for his parents and family members to become US citizens

The United States 14th Amendment – jus soli (right of the soil)

Birthright citizenship allows any baby born on U.S. soil to automatically be a U.S. citizen. Here is how it is quoted in the US constitution (14th amendment)

“Hurricane Trump”

It’s completely ridiculous, a person comes in has a baby and the baby is essentially a citizen of the United States for the next 85 years with all of those benefits- it has to end.

I don’t need a constitutional amendment to change the birth right citizenship. I have been told I can change it with an executive order.  It’s in the process and it’s going to happen.

According to US immigration studies – Families usually come from Taiwan, South Korea, Nigeria, Turkey, Russia, Brazil and Mexico. #birth tourism

Could Trump be serious or just bluffing:

All his controversial policies started like a bluff-  Muslim ban on certain countries, China trade war,  pulling America off climate change deal … everyone said it was impossible, until it was done

Several Legal experts have said it’s impossible to change the constitution through an executive order, US house speaker Paul Ryan also weighed in
–  “As a conservative, I’m a believer in following the plain text of the Constitution and I think in this case the 14th Amendment is pretty clear.”

What are Trumps chances?

A constitutional amendment backed by the 2/3 majority of the house, 3/4 majority of the senate before being sent to the 50 states.

50 states also needs to pass a vote- 3/4 majority is needed from the states before it can become law

That means, if you get pregnant now, you can quickly travel ” birth tourism’  and give birth before Trump gets really serious about this (witches laughter). Or else try Canada
