Hacking the traditional ruler to death

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday evening said he was not ready to do anything in a hurry. He said would sit and reflect on the issues before he would continue with a clear conscience.

Buhari said this during a dinner he hosted in honor of chieftains of the All Progressives Congress at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

If you can’t decide whether to direct your rage at Buhari’s complacency or the herdsmen audacity- you’re not alone.

2) IGP’s amorous Affair and arrest of the journalist who covered it

Obviously our inspector General of police is a lover boy. Remember Senator Misau who alleged he had an unethical romance with a police corporal Asta, promoted her from corporal to DSP in 12 months, before eventually getting married to her. Read the story here

Well, a reporter followed the story and did some reporting alleging that the new wife is abusing her position. In order to get contracts or posted into lucrative positions within the police force (like squadron commander), then you must pay her between one million to three million naira.

But that’s not all. It’s the audacity with which the IGP swooped down on the press team that covered the story.

Lawyer and activist, Mr. Festus Keyamo, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to order an investigation of the Inspector-General of Police for detention of two online journalists and brothers, Daniel and Tim Elombah in connection to the story. The publisher and editor are the duo of elombah.com, a UK-based online news medium.

Mr. Keyamo who represents the journalists, alleged that on 1 January, the IGP ordered the men and officers of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FARS) to invade the family compound of the Elombahs in Edoji, Uruagu Nnewi, and Anambra State.

The invasion, he said, resulted in the arrest of six persons, including the journalists.

“They were handcuffed like common criminals and driven to the SARS office in Nnewi. They were subsequently taken to the SARS headquarters in Awkuzu, near Awka. Up till this point, our clients were not informed of the reason(s) for their arrests,” said Mr. Keyamo.

At the SARS headquarters, he added, those arrested were handed over to other armed officers, who identified themselves as being from the Special Tactical Squad (STS, which works directly in the IGP’s office). Subsequently, the lawyer said the journalists and Mr. Izuchukwu Elombah were then taken to Abuja handcuffed.

On arrival in Abuja, they were taking through grueling interrogation over an article published on opinionnigeria.com, another blog they had links to. The article was titled “IGP Ibrahim Idris’s Unending Baggage of Controversies.”

I thought there was some degree of press freedom in the country- My bad.

44million dollars disappears from NIA

First of all the new DG of the NIA is alleged to have previously failed two promotion exams. And Nigerians are upset that someone so incompetent has been put in power.

But let’s move on shall we. Two days after he was appointed 44million dollars disappears from the NIA.

a black bullion van was dispatched to NIA and the money was removed to an unknown destination around 6am on Friday. The team that removed the money was accompanied by a serving military officer who was posted to the intelligence outfit months ago as the finance officer.”  The total amount of money that was taken away from NIA’s vaults on Friday was $44,285,996. (The daily trust)

The same NIA claimed ownership of the money at The Ikoyi gate scandal involving 43.4million dollars and 23.2 million naira belonged to them was for undercover operations.

Who else is as confused as I am with what’s going on in the NIA. Everyone is carrying on, business as usual.

Justice Binta Murtala Nyarko rules that the Senate cannot probe the reinstatement of mania

While Nigerians have moved on to talk about the herdsmen, Sars brutality and Davido-wizkid. Rasheed Mania is busy evading justice. According to Sahara reporters, A Federal High Court in Abuja, has restrained the National Assembly from further investigating Mr. Abdulrasheed Maina, the former boss of the Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT).

According to a document exclusively obtained by SaharaReporters, Justice Nyarko’s order, dated 13 December last year, was given, in a case filed by the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) on 6 December 2017.   In the case (FHC/ABJ/CS/1206/2017), the AGF had sought an interim injunction restraining the National Assembly, its agents, servants or any other person from holding a hearing session on the reinstatement of Mr. Mania, who was reinstated into the Federal Civil Service after fleeing Nigeria on corruption charges.

Well according to reports, the court has ruled that the national assembly cannot hold a hearing session on the case.

That’s fine- every other convict should head to court to stop their trial /arraignment
