4 Must see series – Inspired by the 70th Emmy awards (see trailers, rotten-tomato score & synopsis)

I think award seasons is the perfect moment to find your next movie or series obsession.  The just concluded 70th Emmy awards is giving me series fever, right now the following series are on my binge watch list

Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

Rotten tomatoes ratings- 94%

This series by Amazon cleaned house big time at the Emmy’s earning recognition in five categories,

Outstanding comedy series,
Best supporting actress in a comedy series (Alex Borstein),
Best lead actress in a comedy series (Rachel Brosnahan)
Best writing in a drama series (Amy Sherman-Palladino)

About the series;
Set in the 1950(s) Midge Maisel’s life is on track- husband, 2 kids, and dinners in their upper West Side apartment.  But her life is turned upside down when she gets dumped by her husband, her parents rather than console her, blame her for the split

She takes to drinking and drunk walks into a bar to explain her miserable life to people which they find completely hilarious – from then on she discovers an unknown talent as a stand-up comedian.

The series has enjoyed good reviews on the plot and story-line with most viewers waiting for season 2

The Assassination of Giannini Versace – American Crime Story

About the series;

Rotten tomato score- 97%

Atlanta is produced by Donald Clover who is also the star actor. It’s a comedy about two cousins who is trying to make it in the Atlanta rap scene.

Another good series to look out for- got nominated in six categories but only one win (for best guest actor Katt Williams)  They lost the best comedy series to Marvelous Mrs. Maisel , only for a guest actor (“waka pass”)  to snag an award for his casual appearance- annoying!

Rotten tomato score- 87%

If you like a good western cow boy movie with gun fighting and women who kill, then this is for you. It was nominated for six Emmys, earned two.

Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series (Merritt Wever)
Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie. ( Jeff Daniels)

I think I would start with “The marvelous Mrs Maisel”, then maybe afterwards i would do Atlanta
