 “I didn’t really have access to a proper studio and solid production until I signed to Davido Music world wide. I’ll say I had my first proper studio session when I got signed. Davido and a couple of other people were present. The studio was so packed because everyone wanted to hear me record my first song. As it happened, I made Eleko that day”– Mayorkun speaking to the Guardian

Before he got signed by Davido’s label, he was a marketer in a major bank in Lagos. He trekked the streets of Lagos begging people to open accounts with the bank he worked for. According to him, he earned N5000 on his first month for opening 190 bank accounts. He earned N7,500 on his second month, The highest he was ever paid with the bank was 20,000.His story changed after Davido discovered his demo on twitter and signed him shortly afterwards.

“That video i posted that got me signed, I wanted to delete it at some point  because it was taking up space on my phone, but if i had deleted that video i probably would not be here now”- Mayorkun during an interview with Anthony Abraham.

Mayorkun has continued to rise and rise.
He announced two upcoming singles (POSH’ &‘FANTASY) to his 1.5 million Instagram followers
He is also headling a concert in Abuja tommorow
