A count down of world cup’s top 5 players – Do you agree?

5) Denis Cherychev:
Denis Cherychev came into the game  as a substitute in the 23rd minute of their first game with Saudi Arabia and officially opened the scoring sheet. Ever since then he played on the starting lineup.

He consistently carried Russia through the group stage scoring another goal against Egypt. During the quarter-finals game with Croatia, he won a tackle against Luka Modric to put Russia ahead for a few minutes.
Unfortunately, Denis Cherychev’s  stunner could not compensate for their defensive failings which put a stop to their world cup bid.

4) N’Golo kante:  Shy, quiet and wants to be invisible …. But yeah we see you.

Its easy to ignore him, he scored no goals, no shots on target, but as a defensive midfielder he is like a solid wall-   extremely reliable
The Chelsea midfielder was a key part of France’s midfield throughout the tournament and has been credited with helping bring the best out of Paul Pogba and Griezmann

Ngolo Kante has had the best 3 years of his life.. Epl with Leicester, Epl player of the season, Epl with Chelsea, final in Euro, FA cup with CFC and now the World Cup!!

3) Eden Hazard –
Six matches, 6 shots on target, 3 goals – Skipper Eden Hazard was instrumental in guiding his team to victory against Gareth South-gate’s Three Lions.
The Chelsea forward has been directly involved with Belgium’s seven goals at the World Cup
Hazard’s willingness and ability to carry the ball under pressure, jinking past helpless defenders is what makes him a break out star in the tournament

He was a contender for the golden ball award

2 Luka Modric:
At 32 he may never play another world cup but that sweat soaked curly hair sprinting across the pitches in Russia has made its mark in Football world
He had two goals, 1 assist and voted man of the match three times- An award well deserved
Luka Modric ran anytime he held the ball, it felt like something was going to happen.

Against the odds he grew during Croatia war for independence in which his grandfather was murdered & his family became war refugees. As a kid, Luka was rejected by Coaches because he was “too weak”

1)  Mbappe –

Herald the new GOAT, the circle of life in football is completed as out-going champions Messi and Ronaldo reluctantly hand over to a new star
On Sunday he became the youngest player to score in a world cup match after Pele
He has lightning speed, intelligence of the ball and is extremely confident without being arrogant
He won FIFA ‘s award for youngest player (deserved)

Mbappe’s stats:
4 goals scored, 7 shots on target, 4 man of the match awards. On sunday Mbappe became the first teenager to score two goals in a World Cup match since Pele in 1958.
