Happy Diwali! Indians are celebrating their new year, and world leaders are celebrating with them.

Rewind…Thousands of years ago:

Rama a Hindu god, returned to his people after 14 years of exile.  He fought and won a battle against the demons and the demon king, Ravana. People lit their houses to celebrate his victory over evil (light over darkness).

The victory of Rama released the goddess of happiness and good fortune, Lakshmi. It is believed that Lakshmi roams the Earth on this day and enters the house that is pure, clean, and bright.

Till this day, Hindu’s observe the moon cycle to determine when the next celebration of light over darkness (Diwali) should take place
